A native Vermonter, Jake still calls the state home as a resident of Guilford, but crosses the border many days of the year to work on projects throughout the Pioneer Valley and the hilltowns of western Mass (having lived in the area from 2002-2007). Though he first became interested in woodworking during a boat building class in high school in the early 90s, Jake went on to earn a BA from the University of VT in 1999, majoring in sociology, with a concentration in international sociology. Deciding not to continue with school after graduation, he got his first carpentry job in the summer of 2000 with a builder out of Putney, VT. Over the years, he's had the opportunity to learn from numerous outstanding residential contractors absorbing their skill, attention to detail, and standards, and bringing that excellence into every project that he commits to. Though licenced for both residential and commercial construction in Massachusetts, JLC focuses primarily on residential work. Projects range from kitchens and bathrooms to decks and porches, to additions, to whole home renovations, with a focus on positive client relations and fine finish work. Fully insured, with a VT contractor's certification, a MA HIC registration, and a MA Construction Supervisor's licence.
